Fitness Philosophy
Private yoga classes take into consideration your personal heath & fitness level, injuries and personal intentions. We can work on a particular issue, physical adjustments and asana variations. In a private class I can assist you with going deeper into each pose and getting a more intense stretching than you would be able to experience in a group class. You will, as a result, develop a stronger and definitely safer yoga practice. A private lesson can help you deepen your practice by exploring the fundamentals of yoga, specific breathing techniques, alignment adjustments and modifications for injuries or health conditions. Lessons can be at your home or at one of the studios that I am working at. Benefits of taking private yoga lessons: 1. Each class will be developed based on your needs. We will discuss them in advance and decide what you would like to work on. Specific postures and sequences will be chosen that address your unique musculo-skeletal imbalances, with an aim toward correcting those imbalances. I can provide you with scripts for each class so you can practice them at home on your own at any time. 2. I will show you specific modifications and alternatives for postures that are more appropriate for your particular body type, strength & flexibility level. So the next time you are in class, you won’t have to wonder what to do during Garudasana (Eagle) pose. 3. You will develop a true understanding of the yoga poses and breathing techniques rather than getting lost when the speed of a group class is too much for you. The instruction is more personalized, which ultimately leads to more skillful and efficient progress. 4. The pace and intensity of the practice can be adapted to your needs and goals (i.e., some like a vigorous and athletic practice, some prefer a mellow practice with an emphasis on stress reduction, some like to stop and start and spend more time on just a handful of postures, etc.) 5. You will have the opportunity to stop and ask questions, which is traditionally a very important part of learning yoga 6. You can receive support and guidance around developing a personalized home practice 7. You can develop a deeper and more meaningful student/teacher relationship

Background and Availability
Background
I was born in Orenburg, Russia where I started practicing Hatha yoga at the age of 12 under the guidance of my father. Since 2001 I closely studied and worked with Yug Purush Swami Parmananji Maharaj and his disciples in Russia and India, translating during yoga retreats and leading Hatha yoga classes. In 2006 and 2008 I spent close to 3 months traveling and living in the ashrams in India to deepen my practice and study ancient traditions of yoga, including pranayama and meditation techniques. I have also studied yoga therapy with Viktor Boiko, the most recognized yoga teacher and therapist in Moscow, Russia. In the US I received my Yoga Alliance Teacher Certification at Yoga Effects. I hope to share the joy of yoga with my students by focusing on subtle movements in the body and breath that create heightened body awareness and mindfulness. I enjoy teaching a challenging Vinyasa style class that combines flowing movements and breathing with detailed attention to proper body alignment. Classes always include a well-rounded set of poses that build strength and balance in addition to flexibility. Each class incorporates breathing, a flowing sequence of asanas, and a deep relaxation. You will be leaving the class with a sense of accomplishment, high energy, calm & clear mind, and a stronger body. Besides yoga, I am very interested in Ayurveda, especially its potential to keep us healthy in a stressful & constantly changing environment. Corporate wellness is another passion of mine. I believe that yoga has a huge potential to help create highly productive, engaged, and stress free work place. My background in Organizational Development and Human Resources combined with a recent MA in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from New York University allow me to use the best of both worlds (Yoga and I/O Psych) to collaborate with each corporate client in the most efficient way to create a more balanced work/life approach.
