Sports and fitness have always been a part of my life. I was born in Cali, Colombia and came to the United States when I was 6 years old. I have been involved in team sports such as baseball,football, soccer and wrestling. Through out my life my main passion was wrestling which I started when I was 8 years old and received a scholarship to Rutgers University in my junior year of high school. Regrettably, I was unable to accept due to family circumstances and eventually relocated to South Florida.
My love for wrestling led me to the art of Brazilian Jujitsu. The popularity with MMA fighting inspired me to open up a school of Brazilian Jujitsu (Nova Uniao of South Florida) to coincide with the existing Martial Arts program at US-1 Fitness. Nova Uniao is know worldwide with for it’s world class instructors and fighters that are seen in the UFC, WEC, IFL and NAGA events. I am privileged to be affiliated with such a great organization.
One of my greatest accomplishments is my RKC Certification. RKC is the most respected in the industry and it’s the only true Russian Kettlebell Certification. Very few instructors have this certification and I am honored to be a part of this elite group. I have seen first hand how kettlebell training can transform a persons physique and strength in a short amount of time. I have trained clients that have lost 38+ pounds in less than three months and enhanced their sports performance to a higher level. Incorporating kettlebells in my own training has also intensified my Jujitsu performance, gained 12 lbs. of lean muscle mass and elevated my VO2 max.
As a experienced Personal Trainer since 1998 my cliental has ranged from the disabled elderly to the elite athlete. Incorporating functional training into my clients programs have shown incredible results and keeps them motivated and reframes them from hitting training plateaus.
