We know you as grand champion of fitness, 2 Time Fitness International Champ and 2 Time Olympia Champion, as well as a fitness cover girl and a staple in top magazines like Oxygen. When did you start your career, and what led you to compete?

Thanks for reminding me. I've been so busy I forgot all I have done in competing…lol! I started in 1997 and it was because a friend Mike Davies suggested I try it, so I did. I immediately fell in love with competing and being the center of attention on that stage.

What does a typical workout day look like for you?

Omgoodness…every day is different. The best way to describe my life is crazy. I am doing this interview in the car right now if that tells you anything.

Do you eat clean all the time?

I try, but lately I have been so busy that I forget to eat..I know! I do love eating clean and healthy, but I, like many girls, hate to eat the same thing over and over so I mix it up a lot and try to still enjoy the great foods of the world.

Your Phat Camps are fast, dynamic, and great fun. What was your inspiration to start them?

I love people. I love to teach. I love life. The Phat Camps are an avenue for me to share this. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to travel the world and share my passion with others and teach them I what I know, and what I am learning.

What if they can't attend your camps?

There are lots of ways to hang out with me or learn from me. Come to the Phitness Retreat in my new studio in North Carolina, buy my new book coming out, or train with me online, www.getphatonline.com. I have so many different people I connect with and in so many different ways.

People from around the county can attend your Phat Camps to get fit and motivated, and now you're traveling the globe. Where is your first stop?

This fall we're heading to Ohio, Canada, Wisconsin and Austrailia.

Everyone wants to know your fitness strategies, so can you share one of your best fitness secrets?

Work your ass off. Don't cheat to win and don't give up. When I say work your ass off, I mean literally work your ass off…no excuses.

How do you stay motivated?

I get motivated by haters actually…people who want to be me, steal my ideas and who have thrown me under the bus. I say "awesome". It motivates me to be better, fitter, faster, nicer and make more money…bring on the haters.

We hear you're opening your own studio..very exciting.  Tell us about it and when the grand opening will be.

We open August 1st and the Grand Opening will be August 12th. We're so excited! I have an awesome staff that have moved to help me with my dream and take this journey with me. I couldn't ask for more. I shake my head sometimes and wonder how this dream got here and then I drop to my knees and say Thank You dear God for everything.

What's one of those fitness myths you hate that you want to make clear right now.

Don't buy anything from a commercial that says, "it takes 5 minutes a day to look like this!" Omgoodness..makes me crazy. If it took 5 minutes a day then we wouldn't be at our all-time highest obesity rate in this country…seriously.
