Answers To Frequently Asked Questions

Why is SmashFit different than a locator?

Locators simply find a trainer based on the zip code or address you enter. But SmashFit is different and one-of-a-kind because we actually MATCH you, the client, with exactly the kind of trainer or fitness professional you want, and we match you, the trainer, with the kind of client you want, based on fitness needs, goals, and location. Think match-making...but with fitness. For example - Let's say you, the client, are new to fitness and want to find a trainer...the first thing you would probably do is go online and search "personal trainers in xxxx city". What would come up is a bunch sites like, Arielle's Aerobics, or Tommy's Be-Tough Boot camp, or Oliver's Old-School Weight Training. But you want to train with a woman...and you want her to come to your house...and you're only available weekday mornings...and you're interested in weight loss. This is were SmashFit can help. Simply go to the "Match Me!" page and key in your fitness preferences. The trainers have already input their client preferences so when you hit "Match Me!", only trainers that match your preferences will come up...you've basically screened each other! In other words, a "smash fit". From here, you can read backgrounds, philosophies, and visit their websites where you can compare services and contact them directly. As a trainer or fitness professional, you will get to target the type of client that best matches your specialty and focus. SmashFit is about finding matches for everyone. Win-win!

If I enroll with SmashFit, am I going to get annoying spam?

Absolutely not! We will NOT sell or distribute your e-mail address, or any of your personal information to third party companies. For details, please see our privacy policy. Becoming a member simply gives you access to the entire site (behind the velvet ropes, so to speak). You'll also be notified of special events, offers, and cool stuff. If I am a client, do I have to pay to make a match? No! Matching and browsing on SmashFit is FREE.

As a trainer, or fitness professional, does it cost to join SmashFit?

Yes - There is a membership fee for trainers. The pricing is as follows - 3 months for $90 (equals $30 a month), 6 months for $150 (equals $25 a month), and 12 months for $240 (equals $20 a month). *There will be new features added with new pricing structures so stay tuned.

Why we charge:

  • There are three main reasons we feel it necessary to implement a membership fee. First, trainers and fitness professionals will use our leads to help build their client base and generate revenue...and hopefully lots of it.
  • Secondly, we will use the revenue from membership fees to run and market the site nationally. This steady stream of revenue gives us the freedom to be choosey about who we allow to advertise so we can maintain the highest integrity for the site.
  • And lastly, things that are free generally aren't deemed as valuable. So if you advertise something that doesn't seem valuable, that's what you attract. And we don't want just anybody on the site; we want the best and the brightest. We feel that serious professionals understand that you have to invest in your business in order to make it a success. The membership fee helps weed out those less "serious" about their career in fitness.
  • How much do trainers charge?

This varies based on their experience, specialties, and certifications. Some charge per hour, some per half hour, and some want to sell you few sessions as part of a package deal. SmashFit does not list the rates of the trainers because cost doesn.t necessarily indicate quality. Trainers usually base their rates on their experience and expertise.

Why does a trainer need liability insurance?

On the off chance that a trainer tells their client to zig, but the client zags and injures them self and wants to blame the trainer, then the trainer is protected. But if the trainer forgets their client is unable to zig even after the client told them of their zig problem and the client hurts them-self, then the client is protected.

How can I be sure my trainer is properly certified?

Ask to see their certifications and ask which organizations they are associated with. A good trainer will be proud of their certifications and education and will be more than happy to share this information with you. To verify their certifications yourself, you can contact the associations by fax, e-mail, or some organization web sites will allow you to verify your trainer.s certification on-line.

Why aren't there any trainers in my area?

We're working on it! Let us know where you are and we'll send in the recruits.

What if I'm not satisfied with my choice of trainers?

Then you may need to broaden your search criteria. If you're still not satisfied, then keep checking back as we are growing daily!

What if the trainer I hire turns out to be a big jerk?

Let us know immediately. We will be keeping grievances on file and will quickly cut loose any, and all, big jerks.
